SIS awarded contract to support CDC Division of Violence Prevention (DVP) VACS program:

CDC’s Violence Against Children Survey (VACS) Support

Awarded as a competitive Three (3) Years contract, SIS supports CDC’s Violence Against Children Survey (VACS) by collecting valuable data to formulate evidence-based strategies in 14 countries, with 8 countries currently in progress including Cote D’Ivoire, Lesotho, Guatemala, Colombia, Moldova, El Salvador, Honduras, and Mozambique.

SIS’s Public Health Analysts, Programmer, Statisticians and Technical Writers travels in-country collecting scientific-based data to measures physical, emotional, and sexual violence against boys and girls ages 13-24; assesses health consequences for violence; identifies risk and protective factors; assesses utilization of services; and helps guide prevention programs and policies.

SIS provides CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC), the Division of Violence Prevention (DVP) and their partners including United Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on-going collaborative activities including:

  • Conducting national VACS in key countries
  • Support national government-led multi-sectorial programs and policies
  • Engage in advocacy and public awareness at the global level
